American Cheeseburger
The quintessential American burger - a juicy beef patty with melted American cheese, crisp lettuce, ripe tomato, and special sauce on a toasted brioche bun.
Ingredients
- •450 g Ground beef
- •4 slices American cheese
- •4 whole Brioche buns
- •4 leaves Lettuce
- •1 whole Tomato
- •0.5 whole Yellow onions
- •8 slices Dill pickles
- •60 ml Ketchup
- •60 ml Mayonnaise
- •15 ml Yellow mustard
- •5 g Kosher salt
- •2 g Black pepper
Instructions
- 1
Form ground beef into 6oz patties slightly larger than buns. Create a slight indentation in center - prevents doming during cooking.
💡 Don't overwork the meat - handle gently.
- 2
Season generously with salt and pepper on both sides. Let sit at room temperature for 15 minutes.
💡 Room temp meat cooks more evenly.
- 3
Heat a cast iron skillet or grill to high heat. Add patties and don't touch for 3 minutes for a crust.
💡 Resist the urge to press - squeezes out juices.
- 4
Flip and cook another 2-3 minutes for medium. Add cheese in last minute, cover to melt.
💡 Covering traps steam for melty cheese.
- 5
Toast buns cut-side down in the same pan with residual butter for 30 seconds.
💡 Toasted buns stand up to the burger.
- 6
Assemble: bottom bun, lettuce, tomato slice, patty, pickles, onions, special sauce, top bun.
💡 Order matters - sauce on top bun.
- 7
Serve immediately with fries and extra pickles.
💡 Burgers wait for no one.
