Methodology

How we evaluate recipes and what our health scores mean.

Health Score System

Our health score is currently in development. The current UI shows placeholder values (--/100) while we build out the methodology.

Excellent (75-100)
Good (50-74)
Indulgent (0-49)

Planned Score Inputs

  • Caloric density - calories per serving relative to portion size
  • Macro balance - protein, carbs, fat ratio analysis
  • Fiber content - dietary fiber per serving
  • Sodium levels - sodium content relative to daily recommended
  • Added sugars - grams of added sugar per serving
  • Processing level - whole food vs. processed ingredients

Transparency

We believe in transparent, science-based scoring. Once the methodology is live:

  • All score inputs will be documented and explained
  • Users will be able to see which factors contributed to each score
  • Methodology changes will be documented with version history
  • Scores will be regularly audited for consistency

Current Status

The health score feature is under active development. The "--/100" placeholder on recipe cards indicates that real scoring is not yet active. This ensures users understand the scores are not final until the methodology is properly validated.
