Black Pepper Tofu Stir Fry
Black Pepper Tofu Stir Fry with balanced flavor and layered textures
Ingredients
- •14 oz Extra-firm tofu
- •2 tbsp Black pepper
- •3 tbsp Light soy sauce
- •2 tbsp Oyster sauce
- •2 tbsp Cornstarch
- •4 cloves Garlic
- •1 inch Ginger
- •2 medium Bell peppers
- •1 medium Onion
- •3 tbsp Vegetable oil
- •1 tsp Sesame oil
- •3 stalks Green onions
Instructions
- 1
Press tofu for 15 minutes to remove excess moisture. Cut into 1-inch cubes and toss with 1 tbsp soy sauce and cornstarch.
💡 Pressing creates a crispier sear.
- 2
Mix remaining soy sauce, oyster sauce, 1 tbsp black pepper, and 0.25 cup water for the sauce. Set aside.
💡 Have sauce ready before cooking.
- 3
Heat wok over high heat with vegetable oil. Fry tofu in single layer until golden on all sides, about 4 minutes total. Remove and set aside.
💡 Golden tofu has the best texture.
- 4
Add garlic, ginger, and remaining black pepper. Stir-fry 30 seconds until fragrant.
💡 Don't burn the garlic.
- 5
Add bell peppers and onion. Stir-fry 3 minutes until slightly charred but still crisp.
💡 Keep vegetables crisp for textural contrast.
- 6
Return tofu to wok, pour in sauce. Toss to coat. Finish with sesame oil and green onions. Serve immediately.
💡 Sesame oil adds aromatic finish.
